Another successful PROJECT C.U.R.E. Clinic Team recently returned from 10 days in Ghana, Africa. The team of one doctor, two nurses and six fourth year medical students from the University of Missouri were accompanied by Team Leader Claire Cunningham. The team journeyed to the western side of Ghana and treated patients in several communities in the Mphoor Wassa East District. This group of dedicated medical professionals worked long hours, demonstrated outstanding team work and maintained constant enthusiasm. They treated five to six hundred patients a day.

The aim of the clinic was not only to treat the sick but also early detection of diseases. Financial constraints in Ghana rural communities prevent hundreds of people from receiving proper medial care. Team Ghana represented PROJECT C.U.R.E. fantastically and helped “delivering Health and Hope to the World.”

Honorable Eric Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, Paramount Chief of Tepa Traditional Area of the Ashanti Tribe received and hosted the team for the first 5 days and Dr. Isaac Akuamoah Boateng assisted them with patients at the Tepa District Hospital. Golden Star Resources hosted the team and Dr. Emmananuel Maurice Ankrah assisted the team.

PROJECT C.U.R.E. and team Ghana dedicated this clinic operation to the memory of Dr. John Boakye Boateng. Before his unexpected death, Dr. John and his wife, Mary Ankomah Boateng, were planning on hosting the team and accompany them throughout the duration of the Clinic. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family.
