Coffee for a Cause: Project C.U.R.E. Nicaraguan Coffee Delivers Medical Relief

Gourmet coffee to Boca Java is more than the coffee beans we use, it’s about the people that work to provide the best coffee beans they can. Unfortunately many of the regions where the best coffee comes from are remote and poor. Buying direct trade and fair trade coffee certainly helps support the farmers and families, but we want to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep coffee sustainable. Our Project C.U.R.E. Direct Trade Nicaraguan Coffee was created to provide more to the people that grow our amazing gourmet coffee.

For every bag of Project C.U.R.E. Coffee sold we donate $3 directly to Project C.U.R.E. Project C.U.R.E. has been working for almost 30 years to provide medical supplies to patients, families and children in more than 130 countries. They maintain collection centers around the country to collect donated medical supplies which are sent to their warehouses, organized and then shipped and distributed directly to those in need. The amazing organization of Project C.U.R.E. means for every $3 donated they are able to provide $60 worth of medical supplies to places such as Nicaragua!

Annually, Boca Java donates the proceeds from the sales of Project C.U.R.E. Coffee, and thanks to our customers, this year was able to give $18,150 to the organization.  That equals $400,000 in supplies!

This donation could not happen without our amazing customers that want more from their food. The owners of Boca Java care just as much as our customers, and writing a check is not enough for them! Every year they personally help with the distribution of the supplies in Jinotega, Nicaragua, the source of our gourmet Nicaraguan coffee. In September they will be traveling to Nicaragua and we will follow up with more images and video so you can see the people helped directly when you buy Project C.U.R.E. Coffee! In the meantime, checkout our video from previous visits.

We are very excited to continue to help the farmers, families and communities that provide our coffee and you can too by purchasing something you already drink everyday! So please check out our Project C.U.R.E. coffee and all of our coffee from Nicaragua.
